Damon LOVES to help me with chores. The problem is, he can't be fooled with a "kid appropriate" job. He wants to do exactly what I do, exactly how I do it. The thing is, they don't make rubber gloves for toddlers... I've checked. So, when we do dishes he just has to make do with my oversized ones.

Even though we both usually end up soaked after doing the dishes he really is a good helper. I just have to appreciate that he actually wants to help and contribute. I know it won't be long before I have to beg him to do his chores.

Damon was eating a box of lemon heads and thought Davis might want a treat too so he asked me if he could give him something...

Much to his surprise I said yes.

We handed him a Kit Kat and you would have thought the kid was in heaven. He was a chocolaty slobbery mess!

Don't worry I only let him suck on it for a few seconds.

There are times when I think being a mom is way to stinken hard... but then there are moments like this where you couldn't possibly love your little ones anymore or you'd burst at the seams!

I told Damon to make sure he was holding Davis really well while I took the picture.

Notice, he grabbed on to his ear like a little handle. Ha Ha.

Darren probably gets sick of me wondering and asking... "What do you think our boys will be when the grow up". But it's something I wonder ALL the time. I wonder what they'll be interested in, what will motivate them, what they'll want to be great at. Obviously Damon is only 2 and has plenty of time to decide, but so far the little guy really does love music.

Lately I've been trying to let him be a little more independent and not monitor his every move. So, the other day he wandered upstairs by himself and I decided to let him and see what happened. After a few minutes I headed up to check on him and this is what I found.

My previously clothed child had striped down to his skivvies, retrieved my guitar out of it's case in the back of the spare bedroom closet and was having his own little jam session.

It was really fun to watch him figure out how it worked and what sounds he could muster up.

California Dreamin'

Some friends of mine decided to take a girls trip to California.... and last minute one of the girls backed out. When they asked me to go I originally said no because although everything in me wanted to go I knew it was selfish and unpractical.

Anyhoo... I kept thinking about the trip and how much fun they were going to have and I couldn't get it off my mind so I decided to ask Darren if I could go.

Keep in mind this is his favorite vacation... California, Magic Mountain, the Beach, the Food. We go every year about this time but I told him I didn't want to go this year with the baby. I knew it wouldn't be fun having to pull over and feed the little guy every two hours on the drive. Plus I wouldn't be able to have fun at Magic Mountain because I'd be feeding the whole time.... and well... you get the point. And hopefully now you can see why I was so nervous to ask him if I could go on his favorite vacation without him. The very vacation I told him I didn't want to go on.

Long story short... I HAVE THE BEST HUSBAND IN THE WHOLD WORLD! He let me go and it was just what I needed!

We had more fun than I can put down on paper. I haven't laughed that hard in AGES! Here are a few pics from the trip (sadly I was a terrible photographer and only took 2 pics... I know crazy!) Luckily Lana took a few on her phone.

This is us at the restaurant we never ate at. Ha Ha. We asked some locals where to find good food and several people told us of this place so we figured it must be good. We got in, sat down, looked at the menu and about died... the food was so expensive that we told our waitress we were sorry but we were going to have to bail. We felt so stupid but we certainly weren't going to spend such a ridiculous sum of money on food.

Oh Magic Mountain! Too bad we didn't take our pic in front of one of the crazier roller coasters.

I have the most beautiful niece in the whole world! She is a bright girl who at only 6 years old has had a tough road. After attending her mother's funeral at the end of September I was reminded how precious life is and how easy it is to take it for granted. It is always hard when someone gets removed from the earth (what feels like prematurely) but I am so grateful for the knowledge I have in a just God and the thought of a better life in heaven.

You'll be missed Jamie and your family is in our prayers.

Damon has a cute little rain coat he'd never warn and I wanted it to seem really fun so I said

1st & Last Boating Trip of the Summer

We headed out for a boating trip while we were in Idaho visiting Darren's parents and of course I remembered my waterproof camera case but forgot my camera. At least the cell phone pics turned out decent.

Damon was so afraid that his hair was going to blow away that he decided to hold it on. Too funny! He made me hold mine on too.

I've been wanting to go camping all summer and somehow it just never fit in. Now with a newborn in the picture I was afraid it'd be next summer before we got to go.

So I did what any natural person would do...

We went camping in Darren's parents back yard and left the baby inside with Grandma and Grandpa. :)

Because they live in the middle of nowhere (really) it actually felt like real live camping. It was a blast and I'm so glad Darren's parents were willing to take care of Davis in the middle of the night. I certainly enjoyed the break.

Darren's dad even built us a fire pit. As you can tell... Damon loved it.

This is where Damon and I spend most of our mornings... building anything our minds think up.

Damon has been wearing nothing but flip flops all summer... and I honestly think he forgot about regular shoes. However, Darren headed off to play volley ball in shoes and Damon insisted on wearing shoes like Dad. Much to his surprise we actually had some... he managed to put them on mostly by himself and he beamed all afternoon in his shoes like Dad.

Davis was having a hard time going down for his nap so Damon said "It's ok mom... I wanna lay by Davis a minute to help him sleep. You can go downstairs".

A little spa treatment never hurt anybody.

Damon watched the X-Games with Darren and I... and now likes to be 'tricky'. This picture of him standing up was taken just before he tried to stand on the seat while driving.

This kid cracks me up and lately I've been jotting down a few of his funny moments and thought I'd share with you.

We were drawing and he asked me to draw a bird... so I did and this was his response. "That's not a bird it's a penguin silly!"

We were pulling up to the Wendy's drive through for dinner (I know, super healthy) and we said "Damon, do you want a hamburger?" to which he replied "No, I want a chicken sandwich with lettuce please. Can you roll down my window so I can tell her?" Sure enough, we rolled down the window and he informed the Wendy's employee what he'd be having for dinner.

Damon touched my stomach today and then we had the following conversation...

Damon: Baby in your belly mom?

Me: No, not anymore.

Damon: Hmmm, baby in your belly still mom?

Dad: You mean baby Davis used to be in mom's belly but now he's out.

Damon: No, still look like baby in mom's belly.

Dad: Sorry babe, I tried.

Damon knows that when you're at a red light in traffic you have to wait for it to turn green before you can go. With that said... he got stung by a wasp and had a big red dot on his wrist. He was awfully concerned and I assured him it would get better. To which he replied..."we just have to wait for it to turn green?"

Damon discovered that when he yells really loud in the garage someone yells back. I told him it was called an echo. So of course he shouted "I can hear you echo! Do you want to play with me?"

Damon and I were playing in his room while Davis was sleeping. Damon suddenly got up and said "Mom, you stay here, I'm gonna go pick on Davis a minute."

We were doing dishes and came across a sippy cup that had some NASTY old milk inside. The second I opened it the awful aroma filled the air and Damon yelled "Oh no mom, I have stink in my nose!"

Damon's been pretending a lot lately and came up to give me a pretend present. He said... "I bought you a present. I bought it at Costco. Look what is mom, look what is... It's Rustease!"

Ever since Davis was born Damon has been dying to hold him and he finally got the chance. He did so well and loved every second of it.

I have this odd obsession with back packs. We're not sure why... I just love them. So when I found an adorable little pack just Damon's size I had to get it. It's the perfect bag for him to take when we go out and about.

So precious! I know Davis is small... but when Darren holds him he looks really small.

During all this down time Damon thought he'd get through a magazine or two. Ha Ha... this kid cracks me up.

I can't get over Davis' little duck feet... they are so cute!

Davis has been a bit jaundice so the Dr. recommended some daily sun shine. We opened his sleeper to get some sun on his belly and the little guy liked it so much he wiggled his leg out all on his own.

Who would have thought we'd have a baby small enough to fit in little preemie sleepers?

With so much attention on the new arrival we wanted to make sure Damon didn't feel left out so we gave him a gift too. He got a new race track and boy does he love it!

Baby Davis is here!

After a surprise water break at 11:15 pm we headed to the hospital. It took a few minutes for my contractions to start so I thought I had all the time in the world. At midnight when my contractions were regularly 2 minutes apart we realized we needed to hustle out the door. Especially since we live about 35 minutes away from the hospital we deliver at :)

By the time we got to the hospital contractions were 1.5 min. apart and I was at a 2. I was really excited to try a natural birth (without an epidural). In my head it all seemed great... you know, walking around during contractions rather than being stuck in that uncomfortable bed hooked up to lots of machines. Problem is, when your water is broken you can't exactly stroll about the hospital. So... I was still confined to the uncomfortable bed. I did really well working through labor until I hit a 5. My body was shaking and I was so nauseous I could barely see straight. An epidural was sounding more and more appealing. Why in the world did I want to do this natural thing anyway? ;)

Well, I made a deal with myself. I asked the nurse to check me and if I was a 6 then I'd keep going natural. If I was still at a 5 then it was time for some pain killer.

Results were in... 5.5 "Epidural please"

Funny thing is, I got the epidural and then the doctor came it to check on me. The doctor walked in the room at 3:35 and Davis was born at 3:42 (Looks like I was a little closer than I thought). However, i definitely don't regret doing the epidural. The little bit it did help was HEAVENLY!

This is me SO happy to not be pregnant anymore.

If I had known what a cool moment it would be when Damon saw Davis for the first time I definitely would have had the video camera out.

I thought he'd be confused because he was so used to Davis being in my tummy... but when he saw a little baby he knew exactly who it was and he was in awe. It was the cuttest proudest mommy moment I've had yet. :)

Damon loves his new little baby brother SO much. He keeps asking to hold him and kiss him and hug him.

39 Weeks

So... I'm at exactly 39 weeks and was planning on taking a belly shot. Problem is, I forgot and got in my PJ's and got ready for bed. I told Darren, "All well we'll do it first thing in the morning".

Little did I know there would be much more important things on my plate first thing the next morning. As I laid down at 11:15pm to go to sleep my water broke. SURPRISE! So, I got up, showered, got dressed, took my belly pic and headed to the hospital.

Company Party

We got to enjoy our Company Party at Thanksgiving point on Saturday. It was so windy that the balls intended for the parachute game were blowing all over. Don't worry, Damon was more than entertained running around to gather them up. Preggy mom even joined in on the fun.

Damon even got to do spin art. They asked if I'd help him because the paint comes out fast (totally reasonable). However, when someone asked if he made that cool picture he said "nope, mom did". ha ha.

Pre-Baby Pedicures

I think it should be a rule to have pedicured feet when about to have a baby. You spend way too much time looking at your toes during labor to have them be unruly. Note to all expectant mothers, treat yourself to a pedicure (you deserve it!)

And it's an extra bonus if you can snag a sister to come along with you. :)

Kyli's Bridal Shower!

We got to throw a bridal shower for my little sister Kyli who's getting married in a few weeks and it was loads of fun! I'm blessed to have more than my fair share of sisters and it's nice to all get together once in a while.

p.s. Kori this picture is for you... you can definitely see the baby bump :)

We played the classic 'question' game to see how well the bride to be knows her future spouse. We made her eat a piece of sour gum for every question she got wrong. As you can see in this picture she didn't think it was going to be so bad.

Well... it was a bit worse than she thought. Ha Ha (thanks Darren for thinking of a mean twist to the game).

Afterward we decided to let Andi's daughter Kennedy see what she thought of a sour gum ball...

Much to our surprise she LOVED it and thought it was hysterical.

Before the shower started we had a chocolate fountain malfunction... as you can see my kitchen was a mess. I wish we would have taken a picture of me because I looked about as good as my countertop.

Fire Trucks and Wedding Showers

We went to a wedding shower for my step sister and somehow I managed to get a picture of my child on the fire truck across the street but not a single picture of the shower. oops!

After enjoying a neighborhood BBQ we headed home for a good car wash (another one of Damon's favorite activities).

He does a better job of washing the driveway than the car.

We brought in the evening hours with a good fudge popsicle...

Had a little glow stick drumming session...

and ended the night watching the Thanksgiving Point fireworks from our backyard! Quite a treat if you ask me.
